Summer bbq @ Yaya's 2011

event :: Summer bbq @ yaya's
date :: 9th july 2011
venue :: knowle, bristol, uk
theme :: chequered blue

[1] Before the Ramadhan month started, Mimah & Wandy invited us to their crib for a BBQ session. Actually the plan was supposed to be a few weeks before that but she got sick and it was postponed to this time instead.

[2] of course the tough guys were the ones manning the BBQ sets (thus letting us ladies to have enjoy our gossiping session to the fullest). Thank you so much for the hard work! ;)

[3] Besides BBQed chicken/lamb/octopus, Mimah also prepared Nasi Lemak and 3 trays of sinful cakes (as expected of our personal Bristol's cake expert). She made 2 cheesecakes and a chocolate cakes. Being the desert person, I tried all 3 types.

[4] Btw, we were all admiring her shining Kitchen Aid cake mixer! I've never used one before and I'm not really the baking type. The only one I know to make is walnut chocolate brownie and I simply use my humble food processor :P

[5] If you haven't got one (food processor), you really should.. hehe promote promote!. I also used it for cutting vegetables and grating cheese. can't recommend this little devil enough! it'll only take seconds to do what used to take so much longer, especially is you are cooking for larger quantity.

[6] we kill some time by taking turns playing a car racing game. it was really funny. I thought I suck, but hubbykun was even worst. He kept getting the last place. Myself and Farah managed to get 2nd last spot (not much improvement either! :P). Min was really good, she scored the highest ranking amonst us all. I found out that day that Min was very competitive in everything that she does.. hehe

[7] The men preferred to stay outdoors to enjoy their meal. The weather was really nice that day. Being UK summer, it rains very frequently. So it was very lucky for us indeed.

[8] There were many talented chefs that day. Hawa and Yaya really loved playing cook. Perhaps from always seeing their gifted mommies in the kitchen. We were really amazed by the level of details that kids can mimicked, right down on pretenting to use the water taps, cleaning, etc.

[9] Me teaching Yaya the Hard Rock Cafe motto. Such a cheerful kid, really enjoyed listening to him talk away. Although sometimes its hard to understand because of the kid's accent (not sure what's the English work for 'pelat').

[10] The favourite posing spot of the day was at the comfortable sofa of course.

[11] Abg Jamal/Kak Odah and Phin arrived a little later to make the event merrier! yay!

[12] Min and Sofea with the masquerade mask! Mimah told us that they got this in Rome, since its a very popular item there. I love seeing this do ever since I watched 'The Phantom of the Opera' in cinema.

[13] Saw Mimah's collection of novels, mostly English but there were a few Malay ones that she bring along. If you enjoy collecting books, the carboot is the best place to do so. I got my Jeff Archer's collection for a mere 20p-50p when I was back in Manchester. So cool. Of course now we do not have time for leisure reading, but its nice to have them for future free time (hopefully after finishing our studies ;P ).

[14] yaya's with his adorable spectacles! hehe. oh did I mentioned that Yaya have a beautiful large pirate ship? Toys here comes at such great deal, it was fun seeing his collection ;)

[15] OK, this toy robot is really cool, even I enjoyed playing with it!! The remote allows you to make it walk forward/backwards and even dance! How come we dont have such cool toys when we were growing up? :P Lucky Yaya he has 3 of them!

[16] future yuna in the making :)

[17] Yaya and Sabrina, his best friends back when they were staying in Birmingham. Btw, I forgot to mentioned that the Birmingham gang prepared around 250+ satay sticks! thanks so much to their hard word, to Mimah/Wandy for their kind invitation and to everyone for making this such a fun event!
