[1] This year, Ramadhan fell on the 1st of August, which is in the middle of summer. Due to this, the fasting duration is about 18 hours long! I must say that this was the longest I have fast in my lifetime and it was no mean feat. During the 1st day itself, we received iftar invitation at Khairi/Unic's lovely home.

[2] The special menu for the night was Khairi's specially made 'kari mamak'. I understand that this is a popular dish in Northern Malaysian and it was really yummy ;) Kak Odah made murtabak, I made green bean desert and brought some freshly picked cherries, Mimah brought the layered cake and buttered prawns while Farah brought some desert assortments.

[3] Yaya and Hawa who loves playing cooks together, so 'kawaiii!'/cute!. Unic's parents were here on a visit, and waiting for Unic delivery due date. Auntie gave us a copy of the sahur and iftar time schedule pamphlet that was released by Bristol's mosque. It was really helpful. thank you! ;)

[4] We received another iftar invitation that weekend. This time it was at Kak Kin's/Abg Zahar's home. By now we were slightly getting used to the long fasting hours. Alhamdulillah.

[5] The menu for iftar were quite a variety too. Kak Kin made rice with steamed salmon, Dr Awan made pumpkin pudding (my 1st time trying and it was delicious!), Unic brought noodles, Farah brought chicken, while I tried my first attempt at making murtabak. Got the recipe from Kak Odah and it wasn't too difficult at all. I was a bit proud of this achievement regardless of the fact that I over-fried them a bit :P

[6] Abg Zahar was cutting the watermelons. Watermelon was hubby's favourite drink back in Malaysian. Whenever we eat out in Malaysia, hubbykun always drink this fruit juice. I myself prefer apple juice instead. It is not very common to find watermelon in Bristol. Only chinese/pakistani supermarkets will have them.

[7] Me and Farah taking a photo with Hawa. The cute dress that Hawa wore was the birthday present from Farah. Even though Hawa didn't smile in this picture, she looked super adorable! Kids don't have to try hard at all eh? :P

[8] Kak odah and baby wazif. Oh soon it will be brother Wazif ;) I found out that night that Kak Odah was pregnant with their 2nd child! Kak Odah, praying that you stay healthy and will have an easy delivery. Can't wait to meet the new baby! Hugs!

[9] A picture of the ladies. yes yes our favourite past time is posing for pictures. Noticed the energetic faces after breaking fast? ekekeke

[10] After 9 months of waiting, baby aqeel (Unic/Khairi's 2nd child) was born on the 2nd week of Ramadhan. 4 days after the delivery, we came to visit baby aqeel. Btw, I was admiring the moses cradle ;)

[11] Unic's moments of delivery was quite suspenseful. She told us that she started having contraction/labour pains when she at the mall shopping with her mom. But when heading home to get ready to get to the hospital, there was traffic jam and Unic's mom was really in a panic.

[12] Khairi + Unic's family portrait. Auntie even gave us some 'bubur pulut hitam'/black glutinous rice dessert to bring back home. She made this during our last iftar visit, but it was in a huge demand so she made some again this time. So sweet ;) Thanks again to everyone for the kind invite and the treasured company. We had great fun.

Menu was marvelouse....and the new baby is cute
The most surprising thing is the lack of watermelon in Bristol! But you found some, which is good. Cute baby, but the traffic jam must have made it a bit more stressful. Have a great weekend. Sue
It was Ramadan when I visited Egypt and I've learnt so much. Great food display, everything looks yummy.
