date :: 30th August - 26th September 2011
Venue :: bristol, uk

Assalamualaikum wbt.

Sekian, terima kasih.

[1] This year's Aidilfitri falls on a weekday. So both hubbykun and I took a day off work/school to celebrate the event. The MCB held Aidilfitri prayer at Knowle, but hubbykun decided to pray at the Bristol Grammar School in city centre seeing that Knowle is quite far and we do not want to miss the morning prayer. Since we were staying at Farah/Imran's place due to the process of moving home (which is near the University), we decided to took from photo here first.

[2] After that, we headed then took the bus #54 (the stop is just at the Triangle in front of Wills Memorial Building, where we were taking photo before) to Redcatch Community Centre in Knowle. Upon reaching there, we saw that everyone had started with the Aidilfitri feast.

[3] The Eid celebration were hosted by these families: Kak Wan/Abg Sabri family, Kak Ros/Alias family, Joanna/Fahmi, Salwa/Sefry family, Kak Kin/Abg Zahar family, Dr Azwan. They were very kind to sponsor the main courses of the day. The guests brought some wonderful side dishes and Eid cookies. Feels like celebrating in Malaysia ;)

[4] We earlier thought that the Eid celebration was at one of the host home. But luckily hubbykun met a Malaysian during his Eid prayer in the morning that told us otherwise ;)

[5] While enjoying the food, we also took time for a group photo. Quite a large group eh? ;)

[6] Another group photo, but only with the MCB kids of all ages. Loved the fact that everyone was wearing Malaysian traditional clothing. There all looked so cute!

[7] A memorabilia of me & the adorable Hawa. Khairi only came with Hawa because Unic was still in confinement from delivering their newborn.

[8] After the Eid celebration in Knowle was over, Ery/Wan Zu kindly invited us for a ride back home. After freshening up, we then joined them for another Eid celebration at Azah/Shahril's lovely home in Bradley Stoke.

[9] This is our first time meeting them. Azah/Shahril also recently have a new family member, a newborn girl. So it was a celebration of Eid open house + visiting the baby too. The girl is their second child. Their first born Adam was super cute. He loved takng photo just like his daddy and has a real camera of his own ;)

[10] Shahril's parents were here too to celebrate this year's Eid. It seemed that back in Malaysia, Ery worked in the same department as Shahril's mom. What a small world ;) While we were about to leave the Eid celebration at Azah/Shahril's, Kak Fariza/Abg Lah family have only just arrived.

[11] The first day of Eid celebration didn't just stopped there. Next we went to Hyda/Taufeek as there were having a small Eid celebration too. They invited us while we were at Knowle that morning. At first I thought she was joking, but she mentioned the invitation a number of times. Then only did I found out it was a real invitation (Duh me! :P)

[12] The food were all delicious. Hyda's mom were here to help take care of the grand-daughter Thuraya. Hubbykun and I were admiring the food serving tray which they got in carboot at a very good deal ;) Found out that Taufeek is from Negeri Sembilan, no wonder most of the food were super-spicy! Psstt... we ate eat with their brand new (barely few days old) Portmeirion plates. Apparently there were some great during that time.

[13] Ery and Taufeek actually are working at the same place. Among other things that was the main conversation that day was on photography and when/what are the good deals for shopping. Found out that Zamir & Taufeek are experts at the best shopping deals news. hehe. Taufeek also showed us the photos he took from an English wedding recently.

[14] A group photo of the guests at Taufeek/Hyda. That wrapped out the first day of Eid celebration for us. A pretty happening & busy day all in all ;)

[15] The Fiday before the coming weekend, we went to another Eid celebration open house. This time at Khairi/Unic's. Coincidentally, hubbykun have a rented car that day because we were planning to move to our new room that weekend. Khairi & Unic mom were the ones preparing the dishes as Unic was busy with baby Aqeel. Found out that Unic also bought the Portmeirion plates which were on sale. hehe

[16] The next day, we were invited to Faz/Nadzri home for another Eid feast. They made super yummy curry noodle! The invitation was actually at 5pm, but we arrived rather late around 9pm becayse we were busy transfering our stuff from the storage to the new room. So sorry Faz/Nadzri for the wait :( And yup, the delicious food were also served on Portmeirion plates :)

[17] This was actually just a small celebration, mainly because Abg Sarafiz who was visiting Che Da (his wife and kids) for a week, were leaving back to Malaysia the next day. It must be very hard being apart from your loved ones for so long :(

[18] The next weekend, hubbykun and I decided to have our own mini open house celebration too at our the new humble studio we just moved into. This was also sort of a get-together because hubbykun were leaving for a few months work assignment in Germany on the weekend. We also invited Zureen, a new Malaysian who have just arrived here a few days before. She was actually a year my senior back in high school. Her kids have all went to bed already from jet lagged.

[19] The only entertainment we to shared that evening was some music and photo scrap books from our travels since coming here. This one on Ayik looking at the photo albums ;)

raya_074

[20] I made nasi impit, sambal kacang, lontong and grilled tandoori chicken (which basically took almost a whole day of grilling btw because our oven is rather small :P). Kak Kin and Unic brouhgt some jelly and Kak Odah brought some fruits. A group picture of all the party invite. I am amazed that somehpow can squeeze everyone in the picture.. hehe

[21] The last guests to arrive that night was Imran/farah. In fact, they came rather late when all the others had just left. Farah/Imran had just arrived back from Malaysia that noon after. When I called her to ask whether she was coming, she just woke up from sleep. must be the time-zone difference. But thanks so much for still making it and thanks for giving us a stay during the time we were homeless ;)

[22] So that ends the EidulFitri celebration of 2011. Lastly, we would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone 'Selamat hari raya Aidiladha', mohon maaf zahir batin!
