[1] Aidilfitri came on the 30th August 2011, after quite a tough fasting month this year :P As usual it is customary here that Aidilfitri open house events are hosted over the weekend. The weather was very windy and gloomy that day, but as long as it didn't rain we consider that as good news ;)

[2] Since everything related to cooking will need to be prepared yourself when you're abroad (unlike in Malaysia where you can cater almost anything!), it is also a tradition here that open house is co-hosted by a number of families. Last year, last year we joined Abg zahar + family to co-host an Aidilfitri open house event with Red as the color theme. This year, they invited us to co-host to aidilfitri with them again and we decided purple as theme. I admit I kinda influenced the color theme because I wanted to wear my wedding kebaya :P

[4] Kak Za even managed to buy a new purple set for the whole family at the outlet in Filton in the morning of the the open house! Super mom, super cook, super efficient!

[5] Most of last year's co-hosts are now in Malaysia to celebrate Eid with their family back home or have their family visiting here (due to new born baby). So this year we have a different co-hostes line-up. The hosts of the events were: Abg Zahar/Kak Kin +family, Abg Lah/Kak Za +family, Dr Azwan and ourselves. We also got huge help from Hanif, Zamir and Fathul.

[6] All the hosts came after school on Friday for the open house preparations. This year's main menu were: Penang Laksa, Nasi Kerabu, Nasi Dagang, Nasi impit+peanut sauce+chicken rendang, chicken BBQ, and even pudding (recipe specially prepared by Zamir).

[7] Zamir, Hanif and Fathul were the main people manning the BBQ set. They were such a great help. Must be quite stuffy standing so near to the heat and the smoke all day long :(

[8] The little angels, helping with cleaning the bean sprouts. Lucky mothers such have such wonderful helpers even though they are boys ;)

[9] We had a bit more time to prepare this year, probably because there were a number of skilled chefs around (for the record, hubby & I are off the list :P). So, Min and Kak Kin suggested making homemade Eid cookies too! The selection that day was: cornflakes, 'suji' and 'semperit' cookies.

[10] Min were in charge of semperit, I was in charge of Suji, while Hubbykun & Hanif were in charge of cornflakes cookies. Kak Kin was doing all the baking, but talented Min were the one in-charge of over all. She and friends even ventured into cookie entrepreneur during the fasting month. Hubbykun went a bit overboard with the ingredient scaling so cornflakes cookies were more than the other. I had to make second mix of Suji because the first one it was too little :P

[11] Coincidentally, 1st September (the day after) is also the Kak Keen's birthday. Abg Lah's birthday and hubbykun's is also in the early month of September. So it was a double celebratin! Kak Keen's received a birthday cake from her former labmate! Yummy!

[12] I baked walnut brownies for hubbykun (because it is the only cake I can pull off) , while Min also prepared cheesecake for birthday! Since hubbykun's was among the one blowing the candles, I was the one capturing the video/pix (which explains the bad quality video + no pix selection on cake blowing here hehehe).

[13] Hubbykun made a picture frame for Kak Keen. Since there were a number of pictures arranged in colage, need to put more attention into looking at the frame it seems ;)

[14] The ladies who love to pose! With hubbykun who likes to take candid photo, I now learnt to always be in readiness and put on a cute face whenever possible :P

[15] The guys who are a bit more reluctant when it comes to being photographed, but decided to keep their wives happy anyway. huhi

[16] The last guests of the night were Abg Shahril/Kak Anis family and Abg Sabri/Kak Wan family because they were in London that day. Abg Shahril's sister from Malaysia was also around having spent a couple of weeks vacationing here.

[17] Abg Zahar & Fauzan have a love-hate relationship. Fauzan enjoys the attention Abg Zahar gives him but because Abg Zahar likes to tickle him, Fauzan usually ended up crying too :P

[18] We didn't have time to take a proper hosts photo during the open house because everyone was busy with the guest. By the time everyone left, it was quite dark and it was hard to take. So Kak Keen invited for another 'makan-makan' session just for the co-hosts.

[19] We had a great time that day. Great food, great company and it was nice meeting everyone. Thanks for inviting us to be co-hosts. Muahs!
