[1] It was during the 1st week of Eid when we made a visit to this Malt Kiln farm. Even though we were rather exhausted from the Rumah Purple open house just the day before and the fact that we have just moved to our new flat, this was the only free time that suit both our schedule. Since we also had a hired car at hand for the weekend, we decided better utilise it for sightseeing too.

[2] In the morning, we started off by finishing a number of gorillas located outside Bristol town. We planned on going to more, but decided to stop when it was noon as we were worried that we wouldn't have much time for sunflowers if we didn't made a move. We also made this decision because also knew that the gorillas will be exhibited at the Bristol Zoo in the near future, so I'll have a chance to finish all my 61 gorillas then.

[3] Malt Kiln Farm. We were first here last year. Hubbykun was the one who made the research. Even though the farm itself is quite far (more than 3 hours drive from Bristol) located near Coventry, hubbykun and I both really like this farm and have decided to made a return trip this year.

[4] Last year, there were a lot more sunflowers and much bigger in sizes too if I recalled correctly. Either we were late this year or because of the temperamental weather, half of the sunflower field has started to wilt. There were two separate areas, luckily the second area was still fine. My guess is they probably sowed it at a different time. We considered ourselves really lucky because there were still plenty to see.

[5] we actually planned to visit on the day after we visited the maize maze, but Imran and Farah who went here that weekend told us there's not many sunflower yet that time. Hence, we decided to wait until after that fasting month was over.

[6] Coindidentally, we also went on hubbykun's birthday. But the one receiving flowers was me? :P Btw, this is how I dreamt hubby should have proposed when he asked me to marry him, but that wish did't come true ;)

[7] We pick 6 sunflowers (well more like I did the pointing and hubbykun did the hard work of going inside the field and cutting the flowers, check out the video below :P). I reserved 3 stems for home and and 3 for school. Each stem is sold at bargain 40p = RM2 each. I learnt my lesson from last year not to pick the giant ones such as this because they tend to die and wilt faster, probably due to the excessive weight of the flower huhi.

[8] This time around we came more prepared too. We brought our swiss knife (with engravings of our names, which we bought as souvenir during our Swiss holiday) since hubbykun had quite a tough time picking the flowers last year. With the knife, it was so much easier thank God!

[9] Also I learnt how to make flower food from the internet. The ingredient involve sugar and vinegar. But somehow it made the flowers die faster than last year when I didn't feed them anything. aiyark! hubbykun blamed me, he said I overfed the flowers :P

[10] Since we arrived here qute late, we only have around 1.5 hours to spend. So we didn't get a chance to do any fruit picking. Since I already did plenty of strawberry and cherry picking this year, I didn't mind too much either.

[11] the farm also offers plenty to shop. The pumpkins looked really cute. remind me of Halloween. I've never really cooked anything that involved pumpkin and I'm not too adventurous when it comes to food either. Would have loved to buy just for decoration, but I'm pretty sure hubby won't allow that. I remembered eating pumpkin when I was smaller (as a vege dish) and didn't particularly liked it either. But tasted Dr Azwan's pumpkin pudding during Ramadhan and they actually tasted really good. Perhaps I should learn how to make one. of course, I'm kinda a dessert person too ;)

[12] Finally, we would like to wish all muslim a very Happy New Year 1433H.

[13] A video of the farm!
